SHELF project (1) Modern Family 1ARG02 - The Bicycle Thief

Modern Family Episode Scripts
1ARG02 - The Bicycle Thief
- Dad! - Come on.
He looks like Little Bo Peep on that thing.
Actually, not for long.
He's getting a new bike this afternoon.
I am? Mm-hmm.
He is? [Phil] Sometimes a man's gotta put his foot down and do what a man's gotta do.
And if the old lady don't like it- Honey? That's too damn bad.
[Mitchell] Yes.
Who's excited, huh? Cam, come on.
Hurry up.
We're gonna be late.
It's a toddler play class, not a flight to Cabo.
We're gonna be judged enough as the only gay parents there.
I don't wanna be the late ones too.
Wow! Paisley and pink.
Was there something wrong with the fishnet tank top? Obviously not.
I'm wearing it underneath.
Kidding.
Just chill, please. Here.
I'm sorry.
I just wanna make a good first impression. You wanna fit in and not terrify the villagers? Hey, come on.
Today is about Lily, all right? Her future best friend might be in that class, and I don't wanna rub anyone the wrong way. Can you please just change your shirt? Fine.
You know what? I'll just go put on a pair of khakis, maybe a polo shirt, and everybody will think we're a couple straight golfin' buddies who just decided to have a kid together.
[Dog Barking In Distance] Hey, I called that place in Napa and got us upgraded to a villa with a hot tub.
So pack whatever you wear in a hot tub.
Mmm! I usually wear nothing when I'm in a hot tub.
And my college roommate's wife just had to get a new hip.
Sucker.
Manny's father is taking him for a couple of days to Disneyland, so we're gonna go to the wine country.
We're gonna drink some wine, eat some good food.
You know, we would do something like this a lot more often if it wasn't for, you know, Manny.
------
Hey, if we're not done by 3:00, I'm gonna tie a noose on this thing. [Gloria] In Colombia there's a saying: "If you have two stubborn burros that don't like each other, you tie them to the same cart.
" The ceiling fan is the cart.
My dad's taking me on Space Mountain.
It's supposed to be really fast, but he's not scared of anything.
He doesn't even wear a seat belt when he drives.
Wow.
How 'bout that? - Killed a bear once.
- Really? Was the bear sittin' in the passenger seat? Read me the instructions.
"Safety tips.
Warning: To reduce the risk of electrical shock"- We can skip that.
Uh, "Failure to heed these warnings can lead to serious injury or death.
" You know, you worry too much.
You know that.
Nobody's gonna get shocked. One time my dad was struck by lightning.
That's why he can drink as much as he wants.

Discussion:

 thought about gay couple

reflection
as a first hang out, it was not easy to do it, and it was a little bit unfamiliar to talk with others facing each others on the phone
but It was so good  to find the potential of our shelf project.
By using the script and video, learn expression and words discuss the topic extracted from them
It is exceptional idea.

Intensive Shadow Speaking Practice methods

Intensive Shadow Speaking Practice methods

•Listen/Whisper
 •Listen/Repeat
 •Listen/ Shadow Read
•Try anything else you this will be helpful
 •Listen/Record
first, i choose the video "  Lisa Kudrow in epic speech on sexism in politics (From "Scandal" TV Show) "
becuase what she's saying is that im interesting and i like her speeking style which is a firm and assertive.
about the methods, i think listening and repeating is the most effective to improve speaking skills.
because it is necessary to be familiar with her sayings.
so, just in my opinion, just watch the video without subtitle and after with the subtitle, then repeat to say each sentences ,considering the speed, points of emphasis, pitch and etc.
finally after being well aware of sayings, say  like a very one who said.
any way, it is sure that this shelf practice is very helful for improving English speaking,
i think i have to do it more

4/17/15

i want to tell about my last winter vacation. because i spend spectacular vacance.
At first , i just wanted to have a special experience  and i found the way that i can earn the money, ,learn english ,and travel in foreing country. it was working holiday program. but, unusually, the country that i went with this interesting program, it was Hongkong, it sounds a little weird.
but i'd had stupid thought that there was colony of the England, so they must speak English fluently.
this expectation made me go there. the real life in there during about 2 months, it was really opposite of my thought. In the Honkong i worked in the Korean reastaurants just as a waitress.

what's more surprising is the true that the residents can't speak and understand english well. even though i've lived in the real local town, it was severly surprising. there is one episode.
Actually, during that time,  me and my friend , we had no choice but to go to the Mcdonald to alleviate our hungers. One day, we really wanted to eat ice cream, so we naturally ordered the ice cream in english to the employee. omg, she didn't understand it. i don't know exactly whether there was a problem for us or not. anyway, we were shocked about it. finally we couldn't help ordering it by pointing out it's image. like this case, there were so many problems about the language because we didn't know any chinese.

but it doesn't mean it was a terrible experience. there were also good things,

Honkong's people were so nice and kind. whenever we had difficulty to work in the restaurant they gave us some helps.
and the owner also was nice to us. He could get us eat some delicious and exprensive foods.
in addition, we could travel so many. around 11 times. so we used to visite unknown placesin which the tourists don't go easily.
any way, it is the amazing experience that i'll never forget in my life.
below, there are several pictures taken in there,
new year in Hongkong

 in tsimsha thui
at the well-kown pizza restaurant
as a waitress

etc
in sheung wan

my opinion about the SHELF project

First, i think this project is intended for enhancing the English speaking skill.
particularly, I want to learn more about expression whis is used in real life, not in the book.
language is an originally  means for people to communicate. with others.
in fact, it is same thing for foreigners who want to learn Korean.
so, i want to take the video about the expression in real life with a foreigner who know many things about it.
first of all, there will be several different scenes, in which me or the other korean ,if i take a video, and the foreigner star. a variety of situations will be directed ; when one gets a present and want to express one's gratefulness to the other, when one is angry, and etc.
i'll take the one example among them. if we agree someone's opinion, how do we say to give our agreement? as we commonly know, we just know to say ' me too', but in that situation, through this video, one foreigner give us new imformation by notifying of the new expression ' tell me about it'

On the other hand, the foreigner also aquire the fresh idioms through that scenes.
it could be useful for both English speakers and Korean speakers.
