Opinion Essay; A university education is a worthwhile investment

“We should graduate with a degree from university in order to get a job".  People think that it is natural and it could become the reason to go to  university. But my opinion is that university education is a worthless investment because it doesn’t help to get a job. the tuition is also too high for the quality of university education, and  In university, we can’t find what we want to be.

When we’re in high school, we study to go to the prestigious university to get high-salaried jobs.  It could be the main goal of our life. However, there are a few people who realize it. In addition,  the unemployment of college graduates is increasing in reality. Why does it happen? They usually want to get  stable and high salaried jobs. However, ironically those who want that jobs come out unprepared for the workplace. So the companies do not prefer hiring  them.
In fact, we learn how to think and how to memorize well, but we do not learn real experience for working in the university. In other words, having only good scores in the classes could be unhelpful for getting employed.

In the result, we go out of university for more careers.  For example, we get the help from charged academy to get certificate, not from the university. particularly in language department. Also, there are many people who go abroad for enhancing their language skills, instead of inside of college.
In addition , the average tuitions of universities are from 2 million to 4 million won. So it is not inconsiderable to take some classes during 1 semester. However, the price differs widely from foreign countries, particularly Germany. By giving payment, we can just borrow books in the libraries, be a member of club, and store up our knowledges by taking several classes.  That’s all benefits for us to be given by university. Also, when we are high school students, we spend our whole time to prepare for entering the university. But, the university is different from what we have imagined and require us too much money as charges of classes.

Consequently, we can’t find our job just losing our money. Most of all, we cannot find what we want to be. Particularly, those who study departs which are directly unrelated with jobs more severely cannot. For example, in language department, there is  a merit that the studies could be widely used in unlimited job departments. In the contrary, where we will work, it is what we have to decide by ourselves.

In addition, it is true that it's needed  more help to find their future jobs for those who choose universities, not considering what they want to study and to be in future. But, it's not easy to make efforts to find my dream while we study in university because we almost spend time to get good scores; gain a scholarship. In the result, the students who couldn't find them and hope for nothing in future, generally become employees without their desires in their jobs.

Finally, we got to pose a question 'why do we go to the university and 'why do we have to go there?'. In present society, it is just considered as an essential gateway for getting higher position. We have to throw away this wrong thought and got to know what is really  helpful for our better life. The university just gives us a name of title without giving help. Therefore trend in which university is where we have to go to get the job have to be changed. The investment in university have to be decreased.

week#1 writing

1. How was your vacation? highlight? lowlights?  Memorable experiences?

It was so memorable. In fact I traveled in France during two weeks with just 500 euro.
It was so hard to live in there with fool budget.
Particularly, it was big problem what we eat.  Most of restaurants have their own menus which costs 15~29euro.  So we didn’t have choice but satisfy our appetite with the products in the market.
However, thanks to that money, I could experience variety of things.
When I’m in Paris, we had to take subway for transportation.  Originally, the bundles of tickets that we used to buy, it was 14.5 euro. One time, we fortunately bought it 7.5 euro. In our thought, it cost differently according with the station. Finally, we got to know it cost more cheap because it was for below 10years olds.  Nevertheless, considering how much we have, we’d continuously used it before we leave.

2.how do you feel about writing? Do you enjoy writing in Korean and/ or English?
In fact, I’m not familiar with writing. Frankly, it is not my favor that I have to use my head. particularly,  activity asking for my brainstorm.  It is why I don’t try to write.
However, it’s changed when I decide to write, overcome the pain of creation.
In result, my output becomes longer than my expectation before work.
In consideration of my personality, Korean is more convenient material for my writing. Because it is a mother language and I don’t have to be concerned about choosing which word I have to use to express my feeling.

3. Tell us about the first time you traveled overseas

In fact Africa, it was my first country that I’d visited. So the environment and culture made me more shocked and challenged.
Different language, color and custom, they sometimes gave me thought that where I was born is the best place for my living. But it was also chance to enlarge my view over foreign country.
I realized that it is not all where I’ve lived and there is more various things outside of my hometown.

week#12 assignement: Mock job interview

first of all, it became the chance for me to recognize my speaking level.
it was not so easy to speak directly with my brain without script  particularly for formal interview.

during this exercise,
first, i realized that i use some expressions and words repeately.
because of my lack of vocabularies, i was embarassed so i repeated them like robot hhhh
like  im,,,,,, or im considerate, x 3

and then i could find that i also roll my eyes very often. as my thought whenever im nervous, i used to do that to release my tension or to just avoid the eye-contact. so it make me seem  very uncomfortable.

in addition, the biggest problem was my voice. it's volume was so small, and then my original voice tune is also low,   so the noise around the class was more bigger than my voice.

therefore in case of the actual interview,
first i have to know the vocabularies related with the job interview and study the better expressions fitted with it.

secondly, i need to try to do eye-contact with the interviewers
becuase it can show my confidence and make them build the trust with me.

finally, it is a mission that i have to overcome in mylife.
i have to make my voice more high and louder
to prevent them from losing their attention to me

in the conclusion, i will have to do mock job interview several times before senior

part# 2 shadow Reading video

transcription

Just because you're short on cash, doesn't mean you can't see the world.
You will need: Patience to sniff out the best deals,... ...willingness to rough it,... ...and the ability to be flexible. Optional: A budget travel guidebook.
]Step 1: Use travel consolidators on and offline. They snatch up empty airline seats, and unsold cruise cabins,... ...and resell them at a great discount. Sign up to receive information on last-minute deals. Call hotels directly to see if you can negotiate a cheaper rate. Step 2: Consider youth hostels,... ...especially in the more expensive cities around the world. You'll sacrifice privacy, but you'll save a bundle. If you live in a popular travel destination, consider swapping homes with someone.
Step 3: Rely on street food vendors for most of your meals. If you like to eat out, make lunch your daily restaurant treat instead of dinner. Step 4: Check out student rates on bus and rail passes. Be a "voluntourist" in a country you'd like to visit. You'll get to explore a new culture while helping out the locals... ...and maybe, even wrangle some school credit for the experience.
Step 5: Be flexible. Monday and Thursday departures are generally cheaper than weekend fares,... ...and save a bundle by flying into a less popular city,... ...and then catching a train, or driving to your desired destination. Step 6: Vacation in the off-season,... ...when prices are cheaper and you don't have to fight the crowds. Did you know? According to one survey,... ...French air travelers rate safety as less important than getting a cheap seat.

#Scene
[ Ringing ] She's not answering, Phil. Are you calling Andy? It's going straight to voice mail.
[ Call ends ] I can't believe she's pregnant.Let's not jump to any conclusions.Jump? Let's review.
She's been moody, eating weird food, getting nauseous.
She left in the middle of the night for a wedding chapel in Vegas with her secret love, and most suspicious of all, she bought a book! Oh, no.What if you're right? - What will we do? -
I don't know.I'll kill that Andy. How could he be so irresponsible?
I mean, he's a good kid.But to run off with my baby girl after I fell for his "Aw, shucks" act!
Which is probably not an act because he's genuinely nice and he thinks "shucks" is the "S" word.
Still, I want to kill him! But that would be robbing my grandchild of probably a really great father! Damn you, Andy Bailey! His last name is Bailey? Oh, my God, she's gonna be Haley Bailey.
Alex: - Wait.I just thought of something.- What? I'm going to be the first woman in my family not to get pregnant and drop out of college.
Ooh, maybe that should be my essay.I graduated from college.Yeah, and Haley got kicked out of college before she got pregnant.Okay, hang on, honey.I am sending you a picture.
Do you think that this arsonist looks like Andy with a beard? No.He's not an arsonist.
Gloria hired him to take care of her baby.Gloria.Right, of course.
You know how protective she is.I'm sure she had him thoroughly vetted.
[ Ping ] Hola! Gloria, where did you find Andy? At the park, chasing some children.- Oh, my God.- I'm gonna call him again. Hey, mom, check it out.God, Luke, what have you done?! I know.
What does he have to rebel against?
Haley pregnant and me in a mohawk-- This year's Christmas card is gonna rule.
What's going on? Did you find her? No, dad, no, I haven't found her.And you know what?
This is all your fault because you two introduced this horny stranger into our lives.
Let me get this straight. You're mad because your daughter got knocked up and ran off with some goofy guy to get married behind your back.I can't even imagine what that must feel like.Really? Now? I can't think of a better time.Jay, stop kicking her while she's down, pointing out her mistakes at the same time the whole universe is telling her that she's a terrible mother! Oh, my God, okay, can't do this.Got to go.Bye

[reflection]

it was the best one among things we did.
i  felt our shelf project's developing continously
and also the topics was interesting for me i thinks its thes same for others.
because it is the things happened around us in these days.
first we talke about teen's pregnancy and ask each other to give their each own answers to the supposition; if you have a young daughter and she get pregnant, how will you treat it?

second, we discussed about the privacy of social media within the family
by using the supposition like that if your mother find out your diary and read it, how wil be you emotion?

in the course of this hang out, i got to know good, useful expression , particually 'rub in'
and i was so interessed to hear others' experiences.
.
